Batu & Donato Dozzy Exhale !K7 Music

When two masters from two different generations record an album together, the result can only be (at the very least) great. On first view, some might think Donato Dozzy and Batu move in different fields of sound but in their productions and their approach in DJing they share quiet a lot.

For over twenty years, Donato Dozzy has played a decisive role in shaping the intersection of techno, ambient, and experimental music—both as a solo artist and in groups like Voices From The Lake, as well as through Spazio Disponibile, the label he runs with Neel.
His partner on this new album is in no way inferior to him, except perhaps for the fact that he started out nearly ten years later. Omar McCutcheon, aka Batu, has by now achieved far more with his Timedance label than just shaping the new face of experimental, bass-music-influenced UK techno; today, artists from all over the world can be found on his Bristol-based imprint, constantly pushing the boundaries of sound design.
On top of that, to accommodate his high output, he casually founded the label A Long Strange Dream.

As DJs, both are in a league of their own while sharing similar preferences and visions. For instance, Bristol with its strong influence by all forms of bass music culture was just as much of an eye-opener for Donato Dozzy as Dozzy’s music was, conversely, for Batu’s understanding of techno.

Their sensitivity, patience, and sheer nerdiness—both as DJs and producers—are perfectly reflected in the eight tracks of Exhale. Be it on Emergence as an atmospheric album intro, the slow acid jam Spiral, hypnotic big-room techno like Drift or Flicker, the contemporary tribal techno piece Off Axis, artful drum 'n' bass like the title track Exhale, or the dreamy ambient/leftfield outro Bloom.

As expected: Masterclass!
